The 10th session of the Conference of the Parties adopted a decision on the United Nations Decade for Deserts and the Fight against Desertification to strengthen the implementation of the Decade at all levels.
Decision ICCD/COP(10)/L.2/Rev.1 requests the secretariat to collate, by 30 January 2012, draft programme on the Decade from the submissions of events, actions and activities to be submitted by the different actors by 31 December 2011. The Inter-Agency Task Force is invited to assist the UNCCD in finalizing and disseminating the programme by March 2012.
Once ready, the Decade's Programme will be made available on this Webpage.
The decision makes reference to the specific actions required of:
- Parties to the Convention
- Donor countries
- observers and intergovernmental organizations
- the World Bank
- the Global Environment Facility
- multilateral funds and arrangements
- partners of the Convention
- international financial institutions
- civil society and non-governmental organizations
- the secretariat
A report of the implementation of the decision will be made at the eleventh session of the COP in 2013.
